My son's debut at the Philadelphia Folk Festival last summer was exciting for a couple of reasons. His first time playing there, of course, but also the chance to see Steve Earle for the first time. Earle has battled some demons, but he's been on-track for years and has reemerged as an incredible artist. His son, Justin Townes Earle, is also amazing (more on him in a future post).I've opted to highlight Earle's artistry through his collaboration with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, The Del McCoury Band, with whom he recorded an incredible album, "The Mountain", and the heavenly Emmylou Harris.
